Guide Requirement Lifted for Access to Mirador Base Torres

September 04, 2025

The administration of Torres del Paine National Park has announced that, starting September 1st, 2025, it will no longer be mandatory to enter the Mirador Base Torres sector with a certified guide, though safety equipment remains mandatory.

The administration of Torres del Paine National Park has officially removed the mandatory guide requirement for the Mirador Base Torres trail, effective September 1st, 2025. The change allows independent hikers to access the popular route without the need for a certified guide.

According to the park’s official statement, the decision was made following a review of current conditions and operational logistics.

However, due to ongoing weather-related risks, visitors must still comply with mandatory safety measures:

  • Use of trekking poles
  • Use of crampons

These implements will be checked upon entry by park rangers, and the rule will remain in place until further notice. The administration emphasized that these requirements are not optional and are critical for visitor safety, particularly during the early spring season when snow and ice persist on parts of the trail.
